Upgrading Your Dining Area Step by Step

Your dining room can be somewhat of an entertaining epicenter within the home. Whether you enjoy throwing formal dinner parties or just like having family and friends over every so often to catch up and enjoy a meal together - the dining room is the perfect scene for either one of these occasions. Keeping your dining room looking good and updating it depending on the seasons will give your home a fresh and fun feeling. When it comes to table coverings and centerpieces - you can create beautiful seasonal settings that you can have fun changing throughout the year.

For fall months, concentrate on warm browns, oranges, and yellows. A deep brown table covering can be beautifully contrasted by an orange and yellow centerpiece featuring leaves, small pumpkins, and flowers. When you make the transformation into winter, go for a white table covering and add deep blue placemats for both a contrast color and a way to keep stains from forming on the white tablecloth. Silver makes a beautiful compliment to both dark blue and white, so considering silver candles for a wintertime centerpiece will add a touch of class to your table setting. Springtime is a great opportunity to brighten up your room, so replacing your whites and dark blues with pastel tones will give your dining area a breath of fresh air. A Pastel pink table cloth can be complimented with light blue, green, and yellow flowers for the centerpiece. Instead of turning towards fake blooms, freshen up the table with a nice selection of fresh flowers. When the weather gets warmer and summer officially comes, take pastels a few shades brighter. A primary blue table covering can be complimented with a beach theme that goes great in any style home. As a centerpiece, try sprinkling some sand into a small spread in the center of the table and adding sea shells. By using seasonal colors in your design, you'll feel like you always have a new, freshly decorated room in your home.

Having a beautifully coordinated table is also great if you end up with an unexpected dinner guest for the evening. Instead of digging through table linens to prepare an otherwise undecorated table - you could spend an hour ironing a wrinkled tablecloth and searching for something to use as a centerpiece. By planning ahead and keeping all of your seasonal supplies in a spacious, easy to access area, you won't put off your dining room redecorating because you don't feel like climbing into the attic to access the décor. If you have a china closet in the dining room that has shelf space beneath it, use some of those shelves to neatly store some of your tabletop supplies.

You can easily spice up these seasonal decorations by adding little touches for certain holidays throughout the year. For example, your winter time spread can easily be customized for Valentines Day by swapping out your blue placemats with red ones. If you'd like to add a fun, Easter theme to your spring time arrangement - placing some Easter egg decorations around (or in) your fresh flowers will make the table ready for Easter dinner in seconds. Kids will also enjoy the always changing setup.

By making these decorative investments one time a year, you'll be set for the next few seasons or so. Any of these ideas can be instantly freshened up with a vase of fresh cut flowers, so visit your local florist often to check out the seasonal flowers that are available. By always making sure that your dining room table looks its best, you won't be panicking next time your cousins from out of town call and ask if they can come over for dinner!
